I think the brother did it. They covered it up to protect him, so they wouldn't lose two children.

That being said, we don't know (and likely never will) what happened so this shouldn't be made. And in general, a lot of true crime should be kept to documentary and not dramatization. Mindhunter is the exception.

I do agree but I did think the Staircase was a good dramatisation because it pointed out how biased the original documentary was which not everyone knew about

You could tell he might actually believe he is innocent himself. That lie was hammered into his head for decades.

It was very odd to see.

I won't say for sure which family member did it but like it was SOMEONE in that house. The ransom note only makes sense if it was a family member. An intruder did not know exactly where the note pad and pen was kept, spend like 20 minutes hanging out in the house after killing Jon Benet to write a fake ransom note (for the exact amount of John's bonus) and put the note pad and pen back in its spot. lol Patty wrote that note.

Who was she covering up for? Herself? John? Burke? I am not 100% sure on that. But like... come ON. Intruder theory does NOT square with the note.
