I didn't see anything in theaters because my local theater is still playing D&W/IEWU/A:R/Twisters. It apparently thinks Twisters will make them more money than anything new. I probably won't wander back in until Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but they claim they're playing AfrAId this weekend (and Reagan but nobody gives a singular fuck about that movie).

I'm starting Dream Scenario right now. It seems like whenever I remember a film I want to watch it's already out of theatre or not yet in - really harshing my buzz.

I expected more from the premise, it was a let down for me.

Same. Gave me “Stranger than Fiction” vibes

There is something coming out soon that seemed like a serious Stranger than Fiction but I already forgot the title LMAO...

Oh, it was that Apple series Disclaimer.

But there can only be one bouquet of flours. Stranger than Fiction is underrated.

Deadpool was so good! Given how much money it made, i wonder whats the next logical step: Deadpool 4 without Wolverine, or another Wolverine movie?

Less is more, and why redo the same idea again, so Im hoping Deadpool 4 just pushes forward and onto another thing (i kinda expected Cable to show up for at least a cameo tbh).

Went to see Blink Twice last night! I had a couple issues with it, but liked it overall, and think it's a good debut from an actor-turned-director. My husband didn't like it, but we had a long discussion about it afterward, and I woke up thinking about it, so that's always a good sign for a movie. A little surprised it didn't do better, but the budget was only $20 million, so between theaters + VOD, it'll probably be okay.

We also saw Bridge on the River Kwai yesterday, which I had not seen before. It was really good, and I quickly realized why my husband liked it so much - the engineering and efficiency of it all, lol.

I think we'll go see Strange Darling at some point this week, maybe tomorrow.

Red Letter Media are Kyle Gallner stans. They approve of Strange Darling

i saw blink twice and also had some issues with it (i wonder if they were the same/similar ones!) but overall enjoyed it a lot. there were a lot of issues raised in the movie that i am still thinking about this morning too (how the brain handles trauma and potentially tries to protect us from it; the nature of power and how it interacts both with misogyny and classism; how boomer women try to “survive” vs those of us who are millennials or gen z). i will never turn down a chance to see geena davis on the big screen! i spent the whole movie trying to place sarah’s actress and with the credits i realized she was also just in hit man, which she was great in as well.

i looooove bridge on the river kwai, it’s truly a marvel! seeing it on the big screen sounds like an awesome experience.

Yeah, I was reading through the r/movies review reddit post, and [Spoiler (click to open)]someone posited that Frida might have gotten her hair cut short reflexively as a reaction to the trauma she had last time she saw Slater and her long hair was used as a weapon against her, and I was like, damn! Had not even considered that. I did think about her clumsiness that way though, like, her body attempting to stop her from even getting to him in the first place... )

Also, I literally drove around to a few theaters a few days before Alien came out to collect my popcorn buckets! (first theater had 1 i wanted, but not the other, so drove to 2 other locations til i found it. And luckily AMC had plenty day of premiere).

Good lord. You know why some places ran out? Because eBay scalpers bought them in bulk!

They are going for quite the pretty penny on Ebay (and some re-sellers bought a LOT of them. I saw one seller of the AMC bucket had 20 on hand, with like 20 sold).

I suppose it helped each theater chain had their own variants of merch.

-Cinemark had their own alien xeno head.
-AMC had a popcorn bucket with a facehugger wrapped around it
-Regal had a different xeno head, a light up facehugger chamber, and 2 versions of cups with figures on the top.
