i gave up on this reboot two episodes in, because the i wasn't into the animation. is it worth it to check it out now?

If you want a quick overview of the story....sure. it's like watching the OG on fastfoward... that's how quickly the story moves.

Same. The animation does not improve. I get they wanted it to look more like Naoko's art but it just doesn't translate well, and it was so weird how Toei treated the entire thing.

i watched seasons 1-3 of crystal but didn't get around to watching the eternal movies so maybe i should get around to that?

i think i just want to rewatch the original but with subtitles that do not make the lesbians cousins

The original has already been re-dubbed. Though it's fairly cheap sounding in the sound mixing and they're so literal that it sounds awkward at times

I thought so. I took 4 years of Japanese 20 years ago so take my opinion with a grain of salt but I had a lot of "but that isn't what she said" moments. Even for someone who doesn't know any Japanese, you can listen to a character deliver a paragraph amount of speech and the subtitle will be like one sentence.

The new (revised?) OG manga vibe animation looks way better than expected. Will catch this later bc the old skool SM episodes played in the background on Pluto TV lmao
