What age are women meant to start having mammograms in the US? It’s not until 50 here.

40 was when my insurance covered it, I think that is pretty standard.

40, but it will probably be lowered in the next decade.

Do you think? Even if they lower it here, it’ll probably still be 40+.

Glad they were able to catch it early. My doctor said okay to do them every two years but hearing these stories always makes me reconsider.

It’s 3 years here and that starts at 50. The uk seems a bit lax when it comes to mammograms.

3 years and at 50?! They start at 40 and they're yearly, for the most part

“Anyone registered with a GP as female will be invited for NHS breast screening every 3 years between the ages of 50 and 71. You'll get a letter in the post inviting you.”

There's a stage 0? I mean, I'm glad there's a stage 0, but I didn't know there was a stage 0.

An older cousin of mine rang her bell on Friday. I was very happy to hear that.

There's discussion among medical communities as to whether it even constitutes cancer because it hasn't started popping off yet. It's just a clump of abnormal cells, like a mole or a fibroid, that could turn into cancer.

DCIS is curable. She shouldn't even need a mastectomy. She will need treatment and all, but hopefully it will go smoothly.

Mum had a lumpectomy earlier this year and didn’t even require radiotherapy though it was on the cards. DCIS still sucks big time but i was thankful it was so manageable...for mum anyway, i know its different for everyone

UGH this girl I knew in high school has the exact same cancer. It's also at a very early stage with good numbers, but she will still probably have to have a mastectomy. It's so scary. I'll be starting mammograms next year. According to various online tests (lol) I'm a low risk for breast cancer, but you just never know. I hope that Danielle makes a complete recovery. I'm glad she caught it early.

I'm same as you - low risk, starting mammograms next year - but still terrified
