Danielle Fishel was recently diagnosed with DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) which is a form of breast cancer. She caught it very early, at stage zero, and will be undergoing surgery to remove it.
While she had originally intended to keep her diagnosis private, informing only family and close friends, reading the work of author Glennon Doyle inspired her to speak out. She is sharing her experience to encourage others to schedule mammograms because catching cancer as early as possible increases your chances of better outcomes.
