Honorary doctorates are so weird. Here, have this fake education certificate just because you’re famous, I guess.

It depends. Sometimes it's because you have so much practical experience/won awards/are known in your field it's the equivalent to having a Masters/Doctorate in that profession. I know someone who has an honorary Doctorate because in addition to winning almost every prestigious design award their work has been in the Smithsonian and Cooper Hewitt.

That feels valid. But is JLC that great in her field? She controversially won that Oscar (shoulda been Stephanie lbr) but other than that all I know her for are Freaky Friday, Halloween and that one with Arnold Schwarzenegger. None of which are exactly masterpieces.

My Alma mater gave Orlando Bloom one years ago and let’s face it his career hasn’t been much beyond elves and pirates 🧝 🏴‍☠️

I saw a recent post about one of his movies getting a new DVD release which will include an interview with him. The post was like "exclusive new interview with John Carpenter!" I was like it'll just be him being like "ok. no. i don't give a shit. no. *shakes head* no idea. can't recall."
