Not sure how pushing the promo so hard with 4 more months to go. I feel like people are going to be sick of it come November or feel like the movie already came out.

It’s only July and I’m already kinda sick of it. I absolutely love the musical tho so I will still be watching

I'm just curious to see if they're actually adding material from the book or not with the added runtimes.

Also on Wicked news, Gregory Maguire's prequel book "Elphie" got pushed from October 2024 to March 2025. At least we know he's doing edits this time... I'm 99% sure the last book in the "Another Day" series (which follows Elphaba's granddaughter Rain) was not properly edited in order to push it out a year from the last book's release date. It legit reads like a draft.

I wasn't able to get into any post-Wicked books tbh. I read Son of a Witch and found it unbearably boring so I never bothered to read any of the rest of them. It also just feels like a very complete story imo, especially since we're already supposed to infer what happens with Dorothy et al.

Also this is a super random plug but this song is the whole reason I learned about Wicked in the first place (this was before the musical iirc) and I really wish the musical had something like this. It kind of threw me off when I finally listened to/saw it because the book is so depressing and the stage show is very tonally different.

I liked the original four books, although I felt the third was awful for reasons I can't recall, but of course the original is the best.

The Another Day trilogy had Maguire's fascinating writing going for it at first, and returning to Maguire's Oz (albeit, not actually in Oz--but the characters) felt like wrapping myself in a blanket. But the third book in the trilogy was... really quite bad, and it reads like a first draft, to the point that some sentences reminded me of draft writing where you're just getting ideas out but don't really finalize your wording. It was also open-ended, I presume, so he may return to it again.

I've never heard of this album before, I've got to listen to it now!
