wicked is one of the most overrated musicals of the 21st century and definitely does not merit a two-part movie adaptation. hard pass for me tbh

The shot of Boq lol stop. I am a lil excited for this though I won’t lie, but I do think two parts is stupid.

I swear when I saw a trailer in theatres they didn't even mention it was a P1, in addition to hiding all the musical numbers

I feel like this is one of the few musical movies that is not hiding it's a musical at all considering the trailer showcases two of the songs and dance numbers, but it's completely hiding that it is a part 1 and that's incredibly stupid.

I hope this is good but will probably always think it would have been better if Ariana hadn't elbowed her way in

I am just so adamantly against 2-part movies. I'm a fan of musicals and when both part 1 and 2 are out I will probably watch them but I think they will always suffer with pacing issues etc. A story typically having 3 acts and splitting into two parts will inevitably end up with problems. I also resent the cash grab aspect.

I can respect that. I've never read the book (in full) or seen the play so I thought 2 acts was justified but hearing that it isn't, I'm still excited bc I liked the music.

Two acts work in the musical because Act 1 is before she's considered "The Wicked Witch" and Act 2 is after. Not a lot happens in Act 2 because it's mostly running through The Wizard of Oz (1939) from Elphaba's POV. I personally love both acts, but to fill in a whole movie involves us watching stuff that was cut from the musical for a reason. Get ready to watch The Wizard of Oz (1939) again.
