speaking of the ballpit

a streamer i like started a new island and spent all of his bells on beach balls so he could have a ballpit island. he had no pants. but he had balls.

it was a fun stream!

litcherally every time i see or hear or think about a ballpit, my brain goes right back to the dashcon ballpit pic. i haven't even looked at this post in its entirety yet bc ontd doesn't read, but i can picture it so clearly in my mind: a barren wasteland of a warehouse or convention center; a blue inflatable pool that served as a ballpit, i guess; no sign of human life.

LMAO I remember this blowing up on my dash so vividly, i was working on a project for my psych course but had to pause constantly to read all the posts from people there about how much a disaster it was. It really killed that particular obnoxious brand of fandom tumblr was infamous for (namely superwholock) and gave way to the more deadpan ironic vibe that still plagues the site

I love Tumblr and I still use it but I do blame it for beginning the bad faith media analyses that plague every other site (but ironically not Tumblr anymore LOL since as you said, it’s very chill) that liking bad characters means you agree with their actions, that authors writing evil things means they condone it, etc.

Yes! I just reblog pretty gifs and read good analysis (which was hard to get over 10 years ago LOL🥹) and I actually really love the chill Tumblr era.

Exactly. Tumblr basically created the culture on stan Twitter (taken to a higher level there of course)
