i need more information about what happened before I grab my torch and pitchfork, but rip to that sweet baby. The loss of a pet is so hard, especially when it’s so unexpected. I hope her siblings are doing okay and my thoughts to the family

Yeah, I'm wondering if it was the first time at a new groomer and the environment was too stressful for the poor bby

I’m also wondering what the medical history looks like. It could be the groomers fault, but it could be a combination of things as well. There’s just way too many factors and not nearly enough information to go off of and owners povs are often biased anyway. Just need more information from all three parties (owners, groomers, and vet)

Honestly with these hyper inbred, squash-face toy breeds so many things can go wrong. They shouldn’t be bred in the first place poor things. They’re so sensitive to heat and stress compared to “regular” dogs.

I know its extraordinarily rare, but I have read a few groomer nightmare stories and it makes me nervous to take my baby in. Luckily she doesn't need regular grooming for the most part.
I mean, accidents do happen and could happen even with you at home.

we only take my dogs to the groomers for a brief time so he can get his nails clipped and we are with him the whole time

and he is so scared and frightened of getting his nails clipped that he almost choked himself once trying to jump off the platform

my poor poor dog

thank god that hasn't happened yet

That's horrifying, I don't take my dog to get groomed because I'm scared he'll jump off the platform. Luckily he has shorter hair and doesn't really need it.

Have you ever talked with your vet about like $15 worth of gabapentin or traz? That kind of stress is a lot on the heart and it would help build start build a positive experience association instead.

aren't purebred dogs more likely to have health defects and live shorter lives?

honestly purebred pugs and other dogs with shortened muzzles so they can't breathe well should be phased out

i've seen a pug type breed with a longer muzzle and it's amazing the improvement of life they have

Yeah there’s a few groups around the world trying to reverse inbreeding practices! Problem is Kennel Clubs refuse to recognise the “fixed” dogs, and so many people want a “purebred” dog, so they’re not taking off unfortunately.

Someone had a Pug in a shopping cart in Wal-Mart last week when it was like 90f(32.2c) & it was was having such a hard time breathing.

I watch groomers' videos so I have watch many cases where grooming can be very stressful for the animals, especially the senior dogs whose mental clarity is not that great anymore.

Even then, sometimes it's best to just do a light touch up and call it quit because it's not safe for both the groomers and the pet, especially if you don't have adequate time to take breaks in between to destress the dogs.

I feel for them having lost their pet, and I'm sorry Nala pass away before her time.

Senior dogs are calmer in their old age and they stick closer to you maybe for comfort and warmth.
