i need more information about what happened before I grab my torch and pitchfork, but rip to that sweet baby. The loss of a pet is so hard, especially when it’s so unexpected. I hope her siblings are doing okay and my thoughts to the family

Yeah, I'm wondering if it was the first time at a new groomer and the environment was too stressful for the poor bby

I’m also wondering what the medical history looks like. It could be the groomers fault, but it could be a combination of things as well. There’s just way too many factors and not nearly enough information to go off of and owners povs are often biased anyway. Just need more information from all three parties (owners, groomers, and vet)

Honestly with these hyper inbred, squash-face toy breeds so many things can go wrong. They shouldn’t be bred in the first place poor things. They’re so sensitive to heat and stress compared to “regular” dogs.

Definitely. And as someone else mentioned, some dogs do way better with a mobile groomer who can come to the home. I know this isn’t doable for every regular person, but they are rich and I have no doubt Los Angeles has a plethora of mobile groomers. I’m just not going to jump right to blaming the groomer without more information. It certainly could be the groomer, but we just have no way of knowing based off these.

There was a dog near me that died at the mobile groomer, who left the pup tethered to the table while he moved the van and the dog was hanged.

That is absolutely terrible. I’ve never personally used a mobile groomer, but I do know one around here some of our clients really love. But as with every profession, unfortunately there will be incompetent and reckless people. Or maybe it was just a one off very careless heartbreaking mistake, I don’t know. But I’m sorry to poor dog and their owner.

OMG that person was a fuckin idiot. 🤬 Unfortunately, I know that some of these mobile dog grooming companies train their groomers very little. Get hired, shadow this person in their van for a few days, “here’s some YouTube videos you can watch for training”, boom! Here’s the keys, goodluck kid!

If I were to ever hire a mobile pet groomer I would 100% be asking for full details on their training/experience before I ever let them touch my pet.

I once took my dog to the groomers and she was shivering so hard, I felt terrible. She was absolutely fine in the end, but it was not a nice experience.

Same here. My cousin is a groomer and she talks about a lot of the issues she runs into is from dogs not being trained. while yes grooming can be a stressful place for dogs, some people don’t train their dogs and it becomes dangerous for everyone when you are trying to groom them. My cousin has had a chunk taken out of her from a dog that didn’t learn boundaries. She wasn’t even doing anything stressful. Just trying walking to the tub!

Too many owners also don’t listen to vets, kennels, or groomers when they discuss the issues their pets have when coming. Some won’t even listen to suggestions about pre-meds, more frequent “happy” visits (not even seeing the vet just coming and walking around and getting a treat to have good memories there, or just baths rather than full grooms to get to know them groomer), grooming at home in breeds it can work for that don’t need cuts and all that, or whatever else. Of course not all owners, but too many for sure. And that’s not to say it’s not sometimes the fault of the vet, groomer, kennel. Everything is a case by case basis, but I’ve seen way too many owners just outright refuse to try.

I agree. My heart goes out to them, but from what we know about Nicola I am hesitant to call out the groomer without knowing more information

Yeah. The obvious likely, publicly evidenced thing is that she was raised in an environment where you ring up the lawyers to settle scores, so she's doing that pro forma in reaction to being devasted and confused about a beloved dog passing. I'd guess this will be quietly dropped down the line.
