I think it stuck out to me because I've been watching diagnosis murder on pluto TV and hallmark. Shonda is such a TV fangirl, it is likely a nod to DM.

lol there is an episode I watched recently and it’s like 2-3 episodes before Scott Baio leaves and the script has them saying the word “bio” like ten thousand times and I need to know if it’s the writers fucking with him lol

IA, but I also wonder if maybe the backlash she got for the whole TR/Katherine/Isaiah situation was why she had to reevaluate how she handled BTS stuff/exits in the future.

Did she really protect that writer though? Iirc, she wasn't involved in the show at all at that point and had handed it over to Krista (who did a terrible job at running things), so I think if anyone protected that writer, it was her.

lol true about Krista, but I think Shonda was at least partially involved, because the writer's wife emailed her about it and she apparently just never responded or did anything about it? Her name's still on the show and she's the one who hired Finch (twice. I think??), so to not respond is insane to me.
