It's not the gender bending that bothered me, it's more that Francesca immediately was like OH. michael/michaela is supposed to be a borderline annoying third wheel at the beginning-- so not insta attraction. gross that it happened at her wedding too which undercut the greatness of their storyline up until then
as a non-reader of the series, even i clocked that. i wanted to be invested in John/Fran because they were different and sweet and his speech at the wedding was charming and then cut to the wedding and after the kiss, had that sour look on her face... like really?
He's really so great in it! I had zero expectations and was looking forward to his screen time by the end of the season. I love his scene getting drunk with the bros lol
i saw IG commenters saying that Francesca's book is their fave because she struggles with infertility (which i honestly barely remember) and her love interest being a woman would "ruin" that. I'm guessing it's like, 20% projection from readers who have gone through that but the straights not being ok for the other 80%.
it's particularly funny to me because it's not like bridgerton is all that good at actually adapting what's in the books, and the books are also kinda bad (and dated as hell)
they love to fall back on that as if she can't struggle with that with john. but it's even funnier because julia quinn admitted that she completely forgot to even mention if they ever had a kid or not because it wasn't important to their love story lmao
i haven't heard this! thank you for sharing-- this is so fucking funny to me. the readers being like "I really connected with the infertility story" and JQ just forgetting it entirely lmaoooo
Described as a major recurring role, the casting call is looking for an actress to portray “Emily,” a character roughly between 24-30 years old described as plucky, endlessly resourceful, and having trouble trusting others. “Emily” is scripted as an East Asian female. The role will involve nudity and scenes of a sexual nature, which suggests that “Emily” may just be a new love interest for one of the Bridgerton siblings
I was finally watching cast promo stuff, and I loved watching Eloise and Benedict's actors interact, and I'll probably be sad that she probably won't be around as much in the same location during his season just because I think their sibling dynamic is my favorite.
Though also lmao whaaaaa at Eloise's actress joking that she's obsessed with Eloise/Benedict
