Maybe it was an old helmet. Not many people realize helmets expire. They should be replaced every 2 years I think. (Not sure about horse riding helmets)

It isn't. I've had a bruise like that and let me tell you, it is painful. It doesn't just look horrible, it hurts. The doctors are afraid you've damaged some internal organs when you have such a deep bruise.
