Reading the article now. I commented this before, but social workers need to be mandated when there are children in the workforce.

They need to make the adults who work on set with children mandated reporters.

Re: both your suggestion and the above, yes, there definitely need to be MULTIPLE levels of oversight b/c power and money can tamp down on those too quickly and easily

That is what infuriates me about Quiet on the Set. California has had mandated reporters in place since the 80s. I don't know enough about the CA law to understand why there wasn't one at Nick? Were they not required?

I think that was something that we were convinced was the cool thing about us - is that we pushed the envelope with our humor

This is so disgusting. I don’t want to call it peer pressure because it wasn’t their peers BUT they used the principles of peer pressure to manipulate children. Of course teenagers will always choose the edgy results and they fucking knew that.

i do not like that she changes races when it suits her or that she is a homewrecker

but at the same time i feel nothing but sympathy for everyone that had to work with that monster schiender

can't believe he is suing for defamation when it did happen

When you think about some of the events in her life (Victorious, Manchester, Mac Miller) it’s hard not to feel some kind of sympathy for her, not that it excuses her other unpalatable behaviors.

Agreed. I don’t think a person has to be the most fantastic person in order to feel some sympathy for them. Unless the person is an absolute monster, I feel like having sympathy for someone is a very normal thing.

I think we’ve gotten to a place where people often feel the need to put a disclaimer to their comments before offering sympathy so that people don’t automatically assume they endorse all of said person’s opinions or actions. Expressing sympathy for someone does not mean you excuse any bad behavior or statements and I hate that we now have to say “I don’t like this or that about someone but…” before expressing you still have sympathy for things they’ve gone through.

I’m all for calling out Ariana’s shitty behavior when discussing the matters at hand but I also don’t think it’s necessary to add that laundry list of offenses before ever offering any sympathy or compliment about something else

Even pre-Quiet on the Set I swear that Avan talked about how he drank a lot while on the show? Something like that. All the kids on these shows went through it.

yeah in Jennette McCurdy‘s book she said “The Creator” would try and get her to drink with him by saying the Victorious kids partied and drank all the time. many of them were still like really young for all that, it’s sad
