Am I overreacting? Some of that was triggering as fuck for me.

Was that supposed to just be playful because it... no.

I was going to come here and bitch about her being a multimillionaire and is putting out budget-ass videos, for what is arguably her best album. And now I'm left like: "Wtf?!"

Am I being oversensitive here? I've been in relationships like this (as well as witnessed them within my family but worse), so maybe I'm seeing something different? 🤔

No it's def volatile cause I was surprised it looked a domestic violence situation in the outside scenes. It's mixed it's half turbulent and half-playful but more on the turbulent.

I get what she was going for but I didn't expect it like that.

If she was a better actress and didn't smile so much, it would have been worse.

I'm not sure what she was going for here.

When he was chasing her and pinned her? Did not like. And did his hands go around her throat?

Idk idk

Yeah when he pins her I was like "!!!...oh where is this going :||" but then she pins him and then that whole tussling in the grass.

I was kinda confused if she's saying she had been in a relationship like that OR is she using it as a metaphor for how chaotic relationships can be in cases where there isn't actual violence cause I've seen other artists use violence in that way. Off the top of my mind I'm thinking of Florence + the machine's Kiss with a Fist where Florence had to come out and say it's not about domestic violence but how explosive emotions can be in relationships:

"It is about two people pushing each other to psychological extremes because they are fighting but they still love each other. The song is not about one person being attacked, or any actual physical violence, there are no victims in this song. Sometimes the love two people have for each other is a destructive force. But they can't have it any other way, because it's what holds them together, they enjoy the drama and pushing each other's buttons. The only way ( ... )

Wasn't expecting a volatile relationship depicted.

I figured there wasn't gonna be direct references to Spirited Away but still I wanted it.

i feel like the only part that speaks to spirited away is her at the door in the beginning, with her hair flying up. this feels like a weird direction to go in with this song imo

Yeah that and escaping the place kinda reminds me of them leaving the bathhouse and I thought the outside scenes would be a reference to the Kohaku River but I don't see any water around?

I can't speak on that because I haven't seen that amazing movie in probably 2 decades.

Time to watch it again! Thanks! 😊

I had to turn up my brightness when she opened the door and her hair was blowing.
