I felt the past two episodes were meh compared to literally the whole rest of the show. It just felt off somehow. I was excited for J Smith-Cameron and even her role was left to be desired.
I am very interested in Marcus’ storyline though. I just want the best for him 😫
Yeah I feel the same way about these past few episodes too. I still laugh and enjoy it a lot, but maybe because it started off so strong this season I was hoping it would stay that way. Although, I was still kind of emotional at the end of ep 8 though hahaha
I loved J as Gerri but I found even in Succession I found her performance pretty flat when she had a scene (I can't remember which one specifically) where she was required to show a wider range of emotion beyond bafflement or looking like everyone else was an idiot. Maybe they'll develop Deborah and Kathy amends some more and I'll be proven wrong though!
Agree - I found myself getting bored watching the last 2 episodes, which has never happened to me before with this show. I can't pinpoint what exactly was off, but it was super off to me.
I think people are generally loving it, but personally, I thought the Christmas episode was one of the weakest/worst of the entire series so far. It's like the writers forgot to be good after scoring such high guest talent. Also, I enjoy Megan Stalter's brand of comedy when it's her own work, and I know being bad is her trademark, but when she's featured heavily in an episode here it's absolute jarring how just bad she is next to more traditional comedic actors and takes me out completely. Her character should be kept to small doses.
I am so glad we got to see Deirdre Hall (and in a Brady's Pub apron!). When Jimmy mentioned she was his mom, I knew I was going to be so mad if we didn't get to see her at some point this season.
In the second episode when Debra hosted the talk show, they needed to book another guest at the last minute. When they were tossing around names, Jimmy mentioned that his mom is Deirdre Hall (and he even made sure to mention that she's on Days of Our Lives) and that she's always camera ready, but he implied that it was going to be a huge pain in the ass. They got desperate enough to ask if she would do it, and she wanted to know if they would send a car and driver to pick her up and then she wanted to know if she could keep them afterward. Later she wanted to know if the products used by the hair and makeup people for the show used cruelty-free projects. They ended up not needing a second guest so Jimmy lied to his mom (he told her that they used products tested on animals) so she wouldn't get mad that they didn't need her to come on the show. There was also a conversation where Kayla kept talking about how great Deirdre's body was and Jimmy understandably did not want to hear her compliment his mother's ass.
