I liked Kenzie and she was a fantastic social player, but I truly think Charlie played the better game. My heart broke for him upon realizing Maria didn’t vote for him. Obviously she’s entitled to vote for whoever she wants but she really has come across as bitter imo (it’s been a while since we’ve had a bitter jury member I feel lol ( ... )

I definitely agree that Maria is bitter and def was a preventative factor for Charlie but there are still 7 other jurors to win over.

If anything, to me he appeared to get fucked over because of the format where they weren’t allowed opening / closing statements. You can’t really bring your perspective to your game to the forefront off of other peoples questions on their perceptions

While that is true, I'm sure he thought she was the one vote he could 100% guarantee and he has every right to be upset about it. It seems like the jury rewarded who they felt needed the money more and that sucks imo, especially when Kenzie outright said she didn't make any moves.

I don’t think finances were really the sole decision for peoples votes. I think she played a more strategic game than people give her credit for, but not a great strategic game like Charlie’s. Kenzie saw through Q building an alliance with 5 other people and kept that observation to herself until their confrontation which I thought was a really smart way to play it ( ... )

I'm so glad I tuned back in for this season (I've fallen off and gotten back on a lot over the years), because it was a ride. "Several means seven" will live rent free in my head for all eternity.

I'm really happy for Kenzie, but I do think Charlie was technically a better player. I don't know why the show hasn't switched back to its old reunion format (cost, I assume?) because it felt pretty cruel to have just have him sit there in silence without time to get over the disappointment. And I genuinely loved Ben but you could tell even he was surprised he got that far. He really was just vibing his way through the whole game.

I think I've read that CBS/Paramount has since sold the studio that they used to do the reunions in so I guess the aftershow is just a cost cutting thing. Because otherwise I don't know what's keeping them from talking to Survivor head/fan Tyler Perry and renting a studio from him or renting out some other space.

The players definitely need a space to be able to process their time on the show. I don't know why they do the aftershow immediately after. Like even if they just gave them a day that'd be something.

One of the best parts of the old season was seeing those players 9 months later, back in civilization, reunited with their precious Applebees once again.

It sucks when the aftershow is like “here are 8 people who are in recovery from a brutal process and the 3 most exhausted, roughed up exiles we’ve ever seen!” Imagine theeee fashion moment we would’ve gotten from Kenzie had she had 9 months off to prepare for a finale lewk

Yes! Let these people have the months to process and reflect and watch their tv edit, instead of poking at their still fresh wounds. Maybe production thinks they'll get some final juicy tv from it, but it actually makes for awkward television because at that point in time they don't know what's going to actually resonate from this cycle.

And I love hearing from pre-jury boots so the aftershows also suck in that way. And like, Jeff bringing up Jelinsky and wishing he could talk to him, and it's like, well there's a solution for that Jeff!

Kenzie was my fave from day one so I'm happy for her, but this was a flop season imo. The cast just did not do it for me. Gold standard new era casts were 42 and 44.

Really? I loved this season the most since David v Goliath. It was an incompetent, blazing mess. It was like if characters from veep were marooned on an island and individually volunteered themselves for rescue.

For me the entire format has become so stale (the same boring challenges, making Big Moves™️, etc.) that there needs to be a good handful of lovable cast members for me to enjoy it. I liked Kenzie, Ben, and Tiffany, but not enough to make it a fun season imo. Bhanu being a mess was painful to watch, Venus was attempting a Parvati impression but with less charisma and less actual gameplay smarts, Q was consistently erratic, Liz had her Applebee's meltdown...idk. Not the kind of fun drama I like to watch.

The funniest and most entertaining moment of the entire season imo didn't even make it into the episode, which is when Kenzie and Maria offered to give up their places in the Applebee's reward to Liz because she was so upset, but both times Q said no because he didn't like Liz and didn't want her to come with him, lmao.

I agree with the format critique! It’s definitely stale and seeing a bunch of people know the drill and masterfully failing it every six seconds was fun to watch for me.

But I also understand that if you liked gameplay, this was not the season for you. I’m normally the same way, but I was just so fascinated on what would happen next week on the real castaways of Fiji.

I really do not like Maria. I think her bitter vote really made this season more contentious than it had to be ( ... )

Yeah, as someone who basically skipped out on the aftershow, I was more initially hung up on how Tevin could've been the swing vote that lead to a tie. Or that Q voted for Kenzie! Hearing about Maria's vote, I was more laughing because people have been accusing her of being a pick me/not a girl's girl, and then in the end she did that. Though I do also think she was being bitter.

I'm happy that Kenzie got such a visible edit especially since the Survivor editors have historically not been the best about editing a female winner and ones that played a great social game.

Having 5 people change their vote from a 6-2 advantage is still mind blowing to me, even though this cast would never be praised on consistency or survivor related critical thinking. I still think they underedited Kenzie strategically / Charlie socially but it’s wild because hours before the finale people agreed either would be a satisfying winner for different reasons and then it happened in the most confounding way possible

But I’m Applebees pissed now this season is going to forever be flooded by people accusing the woman of not playing the game at all when the man should’ve won which is what some of this discourse is tilting to be"I'm applebees pissed" is too funny, whoever manages their survivor promotion deserves a nice bonus for this season ( ... )

I have only been watching the last few episodes because my new partners family watched it, but my top picks were Kenzie and Charlie based on the 3 episodes i have seen lmao
