I liked Kenzie and she was a fantastic social player, but I truly think Charlie played the better game. My heart broke for him upon realizing Maria didn’t vote for him. Obviously she’s entitled to vote for whoever she wants but she really has come across as bitter imo (it’s been a while since we’ve had a bitter jury member I feel lol).

She wanted Charlie out because she perceived him as her biggest competition and the biggest threat. They controlled the game together so she knew his game well, and he outplayed her in the end. If she thought she did enough in her game to win then how does she not feel the same for Charlie? She voted for Kenzie because of the fire in her eyes while making fire?!?! Lmao anyone could have beat out Liz, I don’t see how that is all that impressive. She just came across so cold as well. No praise offered to Charlie and she couldn’t even look him in the eye. Ben has also said he would have voted for Charlie in a tie-break so she literally cost him a mill.

Anyways, rant over lol I’m thinking we definitely see Charlie back as a returnee (maybe season 50?). Maria will be back of there is another heroes vs villains season down the line.

I definitely agree that Maria is bitter and def was a preventative factor for Charlie but there are still 7 other jurors to win over.

If anything, to me he appeared to get fucked over because of the format where they weren’t allowed opening / closing statements. You can’t really bring your perspective to your game to the forefront off of other peoples questions on their perceptions

While that is true, I'm sure he thought she was the one vote he could 100% guarantee and he has every right to be upset about it. It seems like the jury rewarded who they felt needed the money more and that sucks imo, especially when Kenzie outright said she didn't make any moves.

I don’t think finances were really the sole decision for peoples votes. I think she played a more strategic game than people give her credit for, but not a great strategic game like Charlie’s. Kenzie saw through Q building an alliance with 5 other people and kept that observation to herself until their confrontation which I thought was a really smart way to play it.

I don’t think she drove votes, but I think she helped secure a good chunk of that cast not playing their idols along with Q which seemed to help her as she went into final tribal 6-2. She also did outplay both Maria and Charlie in the end with the Q vote, and I wish she expanded on those moves a bit more. Also, I do think it’s really wild she played her cards well enough to get to the end on a season where there was absolutely not a shortage on people who loathed each other. On a more competent season with the same level of Higurashi hating in the air, strategists would recognize Kenzie is the only one that’s seemingly amicable with everyone on that jury and should probably join them. Idk if this thought crossed anyones head on the island and i don’t know who deserves the credit for that.

I think in a lot of ppl playing from the bottom, making moves is a bit of a double edge sword. You try to push it and you can be seen as cagey and unreliable, even if you have some good ideas (Venus, to a lesser extent Jake). You rocket to the top, you’re immediately targeted as well. I think as long as a winner is a thriver (Charlie) or a survivor (Kenzie), I’m pretty happy with the winner.

Sorry for the long ass comments! I’ve been waiting for a survivor post for FOREVER because this season was the greatest shitshow on television until the very last vote (then it just became kind of sad)

I'm kinda sick reading this critique because this has always been a factor in this game, plenty of people get booted for being too likable or having too good of a personal story. This also only maybe influenced Qs vote and I don't even believe it did that much, Q and Kenzie played the whole game together and he was coming after her hard pre merge for being good socially and strategically - he was biased to Kenzie. Plus if it was about who needed the money more, Ben's story was probably the most compelling since Kenzie flat out said she was going to be selfish and use it for herself and Charlie kinda flubbed his answer with the vague charity reference.

Especially when Kenzie outright said she didn't make any moves.

Eh I find the whole "big moves" approach to playing survivor really dumb most of the time. This mindset got everyone on the jury this season sent home because they all wanted to be super flashy. But Kenzie did hustle out there, getting Hunter comfy enough to not play his idol is huge. Doing the same to make Q/Maria comfortable to avoid Q playing his idol was key, even with Charlie almost booting himself here spilling to Maria about the Q vote.

I also really dislike this open forum jury they're doing now. They didn't even let them give opening statements or anything and I loathed that Jeff allowed the jury to cut them off after all of 30 seconds - let them explain their game FFS.

I felt the same way. I'm fine if people think Kenzie had a better game and wanted to vote for her but Maria's reasoning didn't make any sense to me (although I think Q also said he voted for Kenzie because he liked her answer about what she'd do with the million dollars more). It just almost felt like the time Lex voted for Amber over Rob to win All Stars because he was bitter about Rob voting him out and there was only a final 2 so he had no third option.
