ONTD Original: Stationery Influencers Are Indeed a Thing

Apr 16, 2024 14:41

While making a comment in the Michael J. Fox post about how Hollywood has changed, I talked about how there are tons of influencers who are extremely popular in their own little spheres of influence and how it's rare for influencers to become popular across multiple themes, audiences, target demographics, whatever. I watch Japan's awards for best stationery, school/office supplies sometimes, I can imagine living in Japan and wasting all my money on pens...

PS: I dislike all pink aesthetics

I love stationery unboxings, packing, decluttering and organizing videos.

I also learned about a term I can't recall - a notebook to keep thoughts and items for reference (Marcus Aurelias apparently kept one.)

These vids got me to buy just a plain lined notebook - I forget I have it but started to write quotes, keep a list of movies/shows I watched and whatnot.

I don't know any highend items though.

OP that "who asked for this" tag cracked me right up! 🤣

I think you may be talking about a commonplace notebook :)

Hey, I didn't have many tag options LMAO.

When I saw the title of this post I thought “Of course there are!”

I’ve always had very poor writing, it will never be small or pretty. Also I never write! Still I got a bit obsessed with fountain pens but only bought some cheap ones. But I got sick of them. I used to buy a hobonichi every year but more recently I’ve gotten dateless ones and wait until I fill them to buy another one, I haven’t been writing at all lately! I bought a ton of pens in Japan but I don’t use them.

The best thing I did was subscribe to a sticker club because it made my journal entries look nice with pretty much no effort on my part I’ve unsubbed from it now cos the stickers were piling up.

I got obsessed with fountain pens about 10 years ago buuuuuuut I only let myself buy one to see if I liked it. I wanted to buy a super fancy one but I thought I should start with an inexpensive one first. I was shallow and bought one that looked nice. I like it but because I don't write a lot anymore, eventually I stopped using it and I kind of forgot about it (so I know the ink is all dried up and everything needs a good cleaning).

But the side accessory that drew me back in a few months ago was all the ink that's available now! I bought a bottle of shimmer ink and a pen with a broader nib so that it hopefully won't get clogged by the shimmer.

I've always loved fountain pens (it's the historian in me) and even have my grandpa's old fountain pen. I also love the inks. Goulet Pens is great because you can get samples of the inks. One time I ordered a bunch of samples and they sent me a fountain pen as a freebee. It's a really nice one too (not crazy expensive but metal and everything).

Same with the stickers. I subscribed to a monthly sticker club because I love stickers, used to have sticker books when I was little, and soon realized I wasn't using them fast enough and was running out of places to store them.
