Tumblr moderation is a shit show - I regularly come across straight up porn ads and porn posts while browsing SFW tags. Like I’m not talking about NSFW fan art in the tags, I mean outright pornography. And Tumblr decimated their user base with the “porn ban” (which sent most of the fan artists to Twitter) and yet they allow pornography to infiltrate random tags. Great job, Tumblr!!!!!!

And that’s not even getting into the transphobic moderation. It’s incredibly disheartening because, despite yeah the presence of TERFS, I’ve found Tumblr users themselves are one of the most trans-inclusive social media users or at least the space I’ve carved out for myself on there is.

The porn ban was a result of Apple threatening to kick them out of their app store. (I do not understand how Apple chose to do this while there is the most vile shit freely floating around twitter but I suppose it's the good old $$ > morals or whatever.)

The more recent waves of bots are super annoying - especially with that "New Arrival!" feature that throws new accounts into the timelines and makes extra sure you don't miss out on the spam! ughhh I haven't gotten a bot follower for a long time though so this might just be a case of bots changing tactics/tumblr plugging one leak while another one opens. Idk
