Yeahhhh, I don't think that argument applies here.

1) Ryan did not steal Margot's nom. If anybody did it was Annette and in that case it's just swapping one white woman for another so it does not make any difference. And in any case Greta Lee or Aunjanue should've gotten it.

2) Greta did not deserve a best director nod imo. All five nominees did a damn fine job and are there deservedly so. If you could swap anybody then Celine Song is the one that should have been included instead and we might have gotten two(!) women in that category but Greta was never it.

If the argument is that Ryan (and I guess America) should not have been nominated then I can agree with that but to say that it's an outrage that Margot and Greta were not included is just ridiculous imo.

ETA: Oh, I can't see the comment anymore.

sorry, i was trying to edit but it gave me an error (bc you replied?)

1)obviously he did not steal a woman's spot it but its funny that out of the two main actors, only the man got nominated. clearly margo's barbie resonated with people if ontd has all these essays and should be at the least nominated. i guarantee you folks will be talking about this role more than some of the others nominated down the line.

2)have you even seen all 5 movies nominated for best director though?

Yorgos Lanthimos, “Poor Things” and Christopher Nolan, “Oppenheimer” can go. when the most memorable thing about their perspective movies is the sex scenes... bye.

Well, he did stole it.
And Greta gave him more to do, plus musical numbers so... you played yourself.

Agreed, honestly I shouldn’t be watching a movie hyped like Barbie and think well Supernatural could have done Barbie, but Barbie couldn’t have done Supernatural no matter how high I was while watching it lol
