The thing with Bride Wars is that the couple of Kate Hudson & her love interest really work in a way that wasn't super typical of the time period cause she's a type a "bitch" but the movie doesn't humble her and neither does her partner.

That being said, her character is obviously totally in love with her Anne Hathaway's character and I feel like a few years after the wedding it would end up in a polycule of a married couple where the wife has a girlfriend.

Is it bc I've seen male movie stars in films that have had terrible writing

I don't need a big actor in a romcom (though they should do them.) I need chemistry, charm, & decent writing. It doesn't hurt if they are ridiculously attractive either.

Tbh I will watch romcoms lacking those things(love a hallmark christmas film) but the ones I comeback to have those things.

i dislike actors who act embarrassed to have been in romcoms or consider it beneath them. So much misogyny and you wouldn't see women actors getting away with shitting on male-dominated genres they've been in like actions and not getting blowback.
