This right here. She already has an envious list of projects she's gotten to be in charge. People don't remember anything besides your work besides Virgin Suicides and Lost in Translation which was well over 10 years ago at this point. Yet her IMDB is miles long with consistent directing credits. If you're lucky enough to get your foot in the door and have your passion projects funded by that alone and you're STILL being given the grace and budget to fail, you're going to have to look into why you've only had 3 notable films in your lifelong career. Especially with the last name "Coppala".

Many of her movies like the beguiled and bling ring still make profit off the little budget they have. Priscilla is fantastic and will get some Oscar noms.

Her filmography isn’t that long and more of her movies have made a profit than not, plus they’re well received.

The Coppola name of course helps and you aren’t wrong, but she isn’t regularly “failing” to recover a budget- she’s probably a decent bet to at least recover costs and to get critical acclaim.

I don't find that unbelievable and I'm not discrediting her issues but she def has it a bit easy than other women in the industry due to her background.

I imagine her hustle game maybe isn't the strongest cause I'm thinking of someone like Greta Gerwig who comes from a regular background and has achieved massive success and notoriety. That's not handed to her, but comes through a series of schmoozing and networking.

But I also that because Sofia does similar types of films not everyone is always invested in them. I think she's more of an acquired taste cause it always takes me a bit longer to get into her films cause she heavily relies on the quiet non-verbal feelings in her films.
