Fuck whoever decided for this season to have fewer episodes. The pacing is going ridiculously fast that there’s never enough time to flesh out character development and plots in a natural way.
And honestly I’m tired of seeing the popular tv trope of when a couple gets together there’s drama shortly after because apparently it makes the relationship more “exciting” to watch. Wrong. It happens so often in tv at this point it’s contrived and unoriginal. I rarely see couples on television get together and stay together and are in a loving and healthy relationship forever after. I’m not saying there can never be any conflict/disagreements in said relationships, all I’m saying is that I’m tired of seeing it done the same way (but to also add there could be drama in relationships, I’m all for that, I just don’t see it ever handled in a mature way very often. I think in this case the shorter season has made this trope worse for me to watch, cause it looks like they’re gonna get back together again in the next episode anyway so what was the

Yeah, and the pacing is not helping that trope - they seem to be going back and forth every episode which is giving me whiplash. I'm still having a wonderful time, but the pacing is just bonkers.
I think it’s clear by now that having shorter episodes has really hurt this season (and its characters).
I’m hoping that since HBO put a lot more money into promoting this season (compared to how they treated this show for its first season is literally a complete 180 by how they’re treating it this year) they now recognize that the show is popular and will put more money back into the budget….. I’m not really gonna hold my breath though.
At least this season got rid of the wacky mysterious teleportation they seemed to be doing between locations LMAO - somehow people got from one side of the Caribbean to the other in like half a day.
I wonder what the budget was for this season compared to last. I thought people were acting like the budget was cut by moving from LA to NZ, but it seemed the same quality it felt to me (if not some actual better sets). But I didn't even realize the episode order decreased until last week when I was trying to figure out how they fit 10 episodes into this season when I realized they didn't.
So many of my shows are going to 8 episodes this season - Syfy cut the order of Resident Alien from 16 in season 2 to 12 for season 3 and then suddenly cut it to 8 after that. I mean, 16 was too many (not ever side character needed their own episode), but 12 was fine!
I'm afraid Zaslav is gonna fuck us over with this show.
He also seems like he calls queers the F-word. He seems like the kind of unhinged asshole who fantasizes about going back to high school and bullying people.
This season has gone by so fast! There were some standout moments but overall felt so lackluster and kind of disjointed I love the pirate queen i want more of her!!
