I am really disgusted by the news in our western media and the shut down of any slightly Pro-Palestine demos here in Germany. I am not just sad, I am MAD.

One of our biggest trashy news just used the headline „JEWISH HATERS ATTACK POLICE“ as a breaking news headline. It was literally a protest to show support for the victims of Gaza.

Our government and media can’t distinguish between criticizing the GOVERNMENT of Israel and the PEOPLE of Israel. It’s crazy.

Also, I am so over the „Israel has the right to defend themselves“ … by breaking international human laws? Imagine if Ukraine bombed Russia with our weapons or the US went into Mexico to „defend themselves“ from Mexican drug cartels

Germany also shut down a protest by Jewish people protesting what is going on in Gaza. Like how fucking absurd is that?

Twitter is the worst at that. Community notes can help some but ugh.

It is really interesting how social media is so helpful and unhelpful in this situation. There's a whole lot of disinformation and misinformation going on that people aren't seeing things accurately. And, at the same time, it's primarily because of social media that we are able to see what's it's truly like in Gaza. If Palestinians in Gaza couldn't go to social media, we'd be getting a perspective that was primarily from the Israeli point of view in the media.

I was just going to start working on a post talking about this! My understanding was that the mods wanted more things from official sources than celebrity responses, since a lot of celebrities have no true idea what they're talking about when they're posting ( ... )

Israel supplies only 11% of Gaza’s water anccording to the 2017 Gaza Water report l and they’ve turned it back on.
In what other circumstance is a foreign country obligated to provide utilities to a place where they know enemy combatants are actively planning its destruction?

But Israel controls the electricity and other things that make it possible for people in Gaza to get water. So, let's not act like Israel controlling only 11% of the water isn't something significant.

The fact that they have any control of utilities in Gaza is fucked up.

The lack of care celebrities and politicians have for the innocent people of Palestine is depressing. Too often our politicians (UK) are answering questions on Palestinians with "Israel has a right to defend itself" without follow up question like "Does that right include killing the innocent? starving the innocent? taking their water? Turning off the electricity so babies in hospital and people who need oxygen die? Bombing people fleeing?" Why is the terrible attack in Israel the only thing that matters to them?
