Yes,there have been so many American sports teams (TEAMS not players) that have put out statements and it's like... so weird??? Why are you commenting on world events... and taking sides at that

someone said this brought the world right back to the immediate aftermath of 9/11 and as someone who is old enough to remember that, I agree. the frenzied bloodlust and one-sided reporting is making me feel insane!

I truly hope I'll see a free palestine in my lifetime, but the odds aren't great.

I've been having bouts of dissociation during the week and it's definitely due to how helpless I felt after 9/11 as a kid and not hearing any adult in my life have any nuance about the situation, just relentless xenophobia and Islamaphobia. And while Iraq and Afghanistan are glaring failures, we're back at that same dreadful cusp of causing harm that will have generational damage.

yep the way arab muslims were treated like demons/subhuman and white people always given the benefit of the doubt. (so nothing new.) truly deja vu.

If you’re implying Israelis and Jews are white and Arabs and Muslims are brown, boy do I have some information for you about how American racial politics can’t be transplanted to the levant

George Takei had a good message I think, reflecting on what happened to his family after Pearl Harbor and warning people not to punish millions for the actions of one awful group.

When I was a little boy, the Japanese military attacked Pearl Harbor. It was a surprise attack, and thousands of U.S. servicemembers perished. As a nation, we were stunned. And we vowed to strike back. Revenge was understandably on everyone’s mind, including many Americans of…

when people have brought up hiroshima/nagasaki as comparisons to current events, i've seen some (white) americans justify the bombings by mentioning japan's war crimes against other asian groups. ignoring the fact that that's not why america dropped the bombs to begin with, the 2yo japanese child vaporized by an atomic bomb didn't do anything against my people (i'm korean)... seriously fuck off with that shit.

i randomly stumbled upon a tiktok of a woman talking about her grandmother's injuries from the bombings from when she was a child. the comments were full of people talking about japan's war crimes. i get that it's very frustrating that japan's war crimes aren't as well known as nazi germany's, but at some point it turns into whataboutism

so many people overlook how many koreans were killed in the atomic bombs as well.

I'm so worried about what's going to happen. I'm watching my Jewish friends be horrified at what is happening to their people while also trying to stand up for the lives of Palestinians. I really don't have anything to say except that everything feels so fucked up and heavy right now.
