thank you for sharing, kerry! it's time to bring back the anger over the turning of rvw; I think we've been so tired, honestly. I'm ready to fight again.

I had an abortion last year and I have zero regrets. very thankful I lived in a state that allows it. very sad to think of all the women in my shoes who weren't.

I think/hope the anger over RvW never went away. In all or nearly all of the states that have had anti-abortion measures since Dobbs, they've been defeated resoundingly. Women have stayed angry and are ready to show it at ballot boxes. Maybe it's just the kind of anger that simmers long and slow. Pundits underestimated the impact the issue had during the last mid-terms, and they'll probably underestimate it again in 2024.

Anyway, I'm happy for you. Access and freedom of choice is so simple and something all women deserve.

I subscribe to a substack called Abortion Everyday. it's exactly how it sounds! It captures every legislation across the states. It breaks down GOP language (like consensus instead of ban). It kills me every day, but I am so thankful to have the information

I really appreciate people talking candidly about having abortions. The more we talk about it, the better our future looks.

@monicathehuman TW: Abortion Pro-Lifers please dni. This is my personal experience with abortion pills and how I prepared for the day. There is a lot left out so if you have any questions please feel free to ask and I’ll do be my best to go into more detail! Side note: I am a 24 year old mother of one. Overall, the pain was at a 10 for me and I have a very high pain tolerance and personally, it felt like being in labor without an epidural. Just note, this experience is NOT expected for everyone! For others it may just feel like a very bad period and I am someone who luckily doesn’t experience period cramps so this is not a usual thing for me! A special shoutout to @Planned Parenthood for helping my experience run smooth and quickly ❤️ My symptoms the first 12 hours: •Slight Nausea in the first 15 min. •Diarrhea •Dizziness •Fatigue after 10 hours My symptoms the morning after: •Spotting Resources: Need to talk to someone about your abortion experience? It's really nuts to me that it took until Scandal for that to be shown on (network) television

i feel like we see a lot of teen pregnancy stories or pregnancy stories where the person is not ready or something, but never someone who's like "aight bet" and gets an abortion

it's been shyed away from for such a long time. folks don't want to deal with pro lifer fits.

i really appreciate people being open with their experiences. it makes me sad they even have to, though, due to rights being rolled back.

Kerry would later go on to portray the first woman to have an abortion on network television in an episode of Scandal.

Is this really true? Didn't Cristina Yang's abortion happen on Grey's first?

I could have sworn Bea Arthur did it on Maude before that.

You're right!

Times was lazy and said she was the first but there were a few before her. The fact that it's still so rare though... Oy vey.

Why is it nightmare fuel? and why poor Kerry? Seems like she made the decision that was right for her.

Also, I thought Bea Arthur was the first woman to have an abortion on network TV.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was Maude. I've watched that episode on Youtube.

Nightmare fuel because she was almost recognized when she very clearly wanted to stay anonymous and I feel sorry for her that she judged herself so harshly at the time.

I am glad she has come to terms with those feelings now.

i have to that it can be nightmare fuel for some still even if they know they made the right choice and are deeply grateful to have the choice. i just know that while the experience itself is fine, the mental aspect is grueling. you want this out of you, you dont feel like youre you and youre in constant panic mode. i guess getting pregnant itself is nightmare fueling for those are really dont want children rn, but the abortion is all part of it! never ever again lol
