Cristina had an abortion scheduled but it was ectopic and caused complications before she could. I think her abortion with Owen happened after Scandal’s abortion aired, but I could be very wrong.

Soaps show abortions fairly regularly and it's just a nurse handing the character pills and telling her to come back for a second dose on a different day.
