honestly fuck me too, I never took it seriously that she had an actual problem for years, just thought she was doing drugs and booze like any other rock star and would come out of it just fine like most of the 90s ones did, sure I thought the media were making way too much of it cause she liked to go out and drink and get messy like any ordinary young woman her age (which was pretty close to my own age), but I just admired her style and took it for granted she was going to be ok in the end ( ... )

I remember having so much hope when she was in St Lucia. I really believed that would help and turn her around. Addiction is so brutal. It's always on your mind. You always want to chase that oblivion because you feel nothing. You are nothing. I felt like the best version of myself at 2 drinks. But I could never stop there. It's an insatiable craving and it ruins you

yeah I didn't make fun of her (was a Courtney Love stan as a teenager and kind of thought Amy would be our generation's Courtney in terms of getting past her addictions the way Courtney did, plus them both being a little mouthy and messy) but honestly I'm ashamed of how oblivious I was to just how bad it was and how stuff actually affected her with how she was being doorstepped and hounded/how bad it was for younger, slightly out-of-the-ordinary female celebs in the late 00s overall ( ... )

That was so fucked up. I can't believe anyone would think to do something like that.

I listened to a podcast yesterday (unrelated topic) where one of the hosts heard about that for the first time, and she did a legit JLaw "what do you mean? What do you mean?!" It's still appalling that they thought that was clever or funny or OK.
