SO-- the Best Songs of the 1990's... there's a LOT here and a LOT to choose from. These songs are just touchstones in my brain as one growing up and trying just to live life growing up through everything. All of these songs helped me survive being a gay in a world that still wasn't ready for it.

My fav 90s M song typically fluctuates between "Sanctuary" and "Frozen," though "Deeper and Deeper," "You Must Love Me," and "Beautiful Stranger" sometimes get thrown in the mix.
Fell back into my Kylie Minogue bullshit recently. I love Camp Kylie, but Indie Kylie deserved to shine. "Confide in Me," "Where the Wild Roses Grow," "Too Far," "DREAMS"?! I will never forgive the public for letting Impossible Princess flop.
Also, "...Baby One More Time" because what a game-changer. Oh, and Seal's "Kiss from a Rose" and Janet Jackson's "Runaway" will always be my go-to karaoke/roadtrip songs.
As for non-pop songs, probably Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters," Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise," Smashing Pumpkins' "The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning," Shania Twain's "That Don't Impress Me Much," Brandy & Monica's "The Boy Is Mine," Lenny Kravitz's "Fly Away," Garbage's "The World Is Not Enough," and Darude's "Sandstorm" (not sarcasm, it's still the best song to skate to lmao).

While we're on the subject of Metallica, I adore Nothing Else Matters (probably my second favourite Metallica song) but also The Unforgiven and so much of the Black Album, really, is just incredible

I am a huge Cardigans stan and they really made so perfect pop music.
Another classic 90s pop song from The Sundays
