Aug 22, 2023 19:52

SO-- the Best Songs of the 1990's... there's a LOT here and a LOT to choose from. These songs are just touchstones in my brain as one growing up and trying just to live life growing up through everything. All of these songs helped me survive being a gay in a world that still wasn't ready for it.

1990's here we come... )

fiona apple, janet jackson, 1990s, prince, stevie nicks, madonna

i love how on paper, the title makes it sound like a dirty song, but the reality is about a girl who keeps it tight because she's classy and thinking about her future 😭

Portisheads live album/dvd is just perfection.
Humming and Roads in particular

They really do be on that less-is-more approach.

Beth is very shy (she was pretty much never apart of interviews), she's not big on touring, so they rarely do.
They pretty much have said "Glory Box" let them have a decent life to live modestly on, so we just do things when we feel like it.

I wish they did a joint tour with MassiveAttack. They share a live keyboardist, too.

excellent picks!!! As an early 90s baby I love a lot of 90s music.

looooove the inclusion of Nanci Griffith <3 The Flyer album is such a classic to me personally. my dad loved that album and I had it memorized as a youngster lol. he's also gone now and I listen to it a lot. The Flyer, Nobody's Angel (!!!!), and the whole first half of the album especially are so golden

Mariah had some absolute bangers.

Butterfly is my favourite album of all times, it's perfect all the way through
