Fucking hell

Ignoring the human suffering, the physical devastation, the environmental hazards because "but I planned the perfect trip!"

I think the death toll might still rise. The fire started overnight while people were sleeping and moved SO fast that a lot of people just did not have a chance to escape. The pictures and videos that are coming out are horrifying.

Jesus. We had a fire alarm at 4 am last month and I was the first one out bc I've been in fires before where the doorknob was hot and I remember it viscerally. We needed 6 girls (in college) to get the emergency for open which is ofc built for men 😠 🤬 😡

20 minutes later everyone else (6 people?) stumbled out. I'm like... what?! It had those epilepsy sirens on to make sure the deaf awaken, I was shocked but most people don't anticipate this and wanted to look more put together than I. And if you have kids, less able- bodied people, elderly, intoxicated or otherwise, it's brutal and scary to get everyone together.

Has Zuckerberg said anything about this? He was all up in arms about helping save and preserve Hawaii's natural resources and offended a lot of locals with his White Saviour mentality.

I'm sure he's too busy training for some stupid fight (that will never happen.)

I haven’t read anything about Zuckerberg. Bezos claims to be putting up $100M in support (not sure of details) and Oprah was spotted handing out pillows / supplies (I’m
sure more than that, but still). Not sure if any of them have offered shelter in their mansions (or to stop buying super yachts and fund climate change initiatives instead).

I looked it up, they're creating a fund and are dedicating 100M to it. Isn't this basically just a tax write off?

I can't imagine this or how terrified people must be/must have been. I'm so sorry for those who lost their lives, those who are devastated, it's just so awful.
