The single house standing is so eerie.

I wonder why that one house didn't get hit. They're incredibly lucky.

They might’ve done, looks like the trees in their front yard were burnt.

Fires can also do that, a sudden change in wind direction can be the difference between losing nothing and everything.

Devastating. I’m genuinely shook and depressed about this. Hope they’re okay and safe!

As a fellow AAPI, I definitely want to do some reports on it in the future and I’ve followed several Hawaiians speaking out about this + what is going on behind the tourism industry. I really hope there gonna be positive changes given the consideration on the history 🥊 between USA and Hawaii. Hawaii remain staying true to itself and for that Hawaii forever have my love and everlasting support for life. Keep it real y’all

My sister lives in Maui, and works in Lahaina. She was one of the lucky ones-she still has a home in a different part of Maui, but her job building burnt down. She is taking in some of her coworkers who lost their home and she says it’s just so awful because it feels like there is so little anyone can do, and the whole thing is such a tragic loss of life, as well as the loss of much of Maui’s history.

I'm glad your sister is safe. How kind of her to take in coworkers!

Me too.

Yeah, a lot of people are doing that to help out since there are not a lot of options for shelter right now.

One of my old coworkers grew up in Lahaina and a lot of his family is still there. He’s been posting about it and it’s so awful. Fortunately all of his family is accounted for but they’ve lost their family home and all their belongings. It’s hard with so much loss to know where to even begin to help, it’s great that your sister is able and willing to take in her coworkers. Im glad that she’s ok!

This is so awful. It's such a gorgeous place and so much of it in this videos just looks like an awful disaster zone. I hope the people who live there will be able to get help to rebuild, but 80 dead already is terrible.

I haven't been to Maui (just Oahu, Hawaii & Kauai) but my parents went to Maui on their honeymoon in 1988 & loved it there.
