It's missing Michelle Williams, she asked to be killed in the Dawson's Creek finale because she didn't want to be back in case the show would be rebooted later on

Girl Joey was the worst!!! lol completely insufferable and def didn’t deserve pacey. Dawson actually is what she deserved but I’ll be happy for pacey

no one deserved dawson omg that’s an arrow straight through my heart lmao

s1/s2 joey was my fav after pacey. my issue is that they started making her so generic in the later seasons to fit a more broad romcom lead angle. her whole initial appeal to me was her spiciness. i loved her and pacey from the start because she was the one who actually comforted pacey after everyone else acted like his teacher molesting him was some big joke, and he was the one who took her to visit her dad in prison. i also resented how all that development was forgotten by s2 because ~dawson

Joeys victim complex was too much for me to overcome. She was always poor me poor Joey and it was obnoxious. Her little temper tantrum because she didn’t get the financial aid she wanted and was offended at even the thought of a student loan so she’s just not going to go an Ivy League because she doesn’t want to take out loans like every other person in America?? That she even took Dawson’s money to pay for school was gross. And the way she literally hopped over to Dawson like a day after her and pacey broke up was nagl. They spent all that time building that relationship just for them to break up and her to run back to Dawson and the next season opens with her writing essays about Dawson and pining for Dawson and pacey is an afterthought. Pacey always deserved better than Joey. The focus on her character as the show went on really soured me a lot

i mean tbf girl ended up being proven right about student loans lol

(laughs in poor millennial)

they character assassinated both her and pacey just to hit that reset button to shove her back with dawson, it was infuriating. it made no sense for her to go from so involved in pacey to suddenly being up dawson’s ass again after all that development. plus they made pacey unbelievably cruel to her during promicide, and i don’t care how upset he was - it was super ooc of him to behave that way without at least apologizing (which he never did, they made JOEY apologize to HIM lmfao). and then he’s suddenly banging her college roommate ( ... )

yeah, the whole breakup of pacey/joey and the way it was handled just really upsets me. it was very disrespectful to the relationship they had so painstakingly led up to and built. his shift made no sense either. I always skip the prom episode when I watch. You're right that it's totally ooc for him - to go from buying her a wall and noticing her moms earrings ("i remember everything") and watching her sleep to doing that to her at prom? it just didnt make sense for anything we'd been told and shown that pacey was. actually the last time i rewatched, i just stopped when i got to that episode and never finished the series lol

Are you me??? I loved Joey for the same reasons and still got a soft spot for her even if in later seasons she sucked (especially the college years) and I loved her and Pacey together, they were my OTP and my love for them and the show was a huge part of the reason why I was motivated to learn english

But like she could just... not come back?

People would have hated her or called her ungrateful, the character's death is the most sure way to not have to came back without repercussions on an actor's image

I see. I'd love the power move but I guess.

she did have the talent to back off a move like that, and she was lucky to be able to show it right after the end of the show with Brokeback Mountain, which came out 2 years after the end of DC, so she was able to distance herself very quickly from her tv fame - but it was not a guarantee when the show ended

I'm sure the Olsen twins thought the same thing and now their old coworkers just keep trying to drag their names through the mud because they don't want to come back. Death is the great equalizer.

fair enough, but no one cares? no one cares what john stamos has to say about the olsen twins. youre tierh at a point where you really need the money and youd come back anyway, or youre better off not doing it at which point the opinions of the people that are desperate arent really going to touch you.

i think it's more she wanted finality to a character she never wanted to revisit but i get you, she also didn't want to feel obligated to play the role again in case of a reunion
