-Tale as old as time, Actor lands role on tv show, ends up wanting to leave for variety of reasons and NEVER COME BACK (until they do) so they ask to be killed off.
-Buzzfeed lists some actors who asked and most that prevailed:
1. Mischa Barton as Marissa on The O.C. - Asked to leave the show, was given 2 options: happy ending or brutal ending. Barton chose brutal and thus Marissa was killed off.
2. Emma Caulfield as Anyanka Christina Emmanuella on Buffy - She was over the show by the time the 7th season came around and asked for Anya to be killed so she could ensure that they wouldnt have to come back should there be an 8th season.
3. Troian Bellisario as Spencer on Pretty Little Liars - Troian wanted to add some actual stakes to PLL and thus asked for Spencer to bite the dust and give A a win but she was turned down and remained alive through the end.
4. Shannen Doherty as Prue Halliwell on Charmed (not on the list) - Shannens father was going through health issues and paired with behind the scenes drama come S3 of Charmed, Shannen asked to be let out of her contract in Dec of 2000. The studio told her no and she continued on working. They allowed her to direct the S3 finale and she believed that she would be returning for Season 4 but during the shows hiatus the network surprised Shannen by A. inadvertently allowing her to direct her own characters death as well as B. sending her a pink slip notifying her of her termination while she was filming a movie in Canada.
