I feel like a lot of people don't realize the pay outs actors have to make means they take home significantly less than someone earning the same salary in another industry.

I remember Adelaide Kane (Reign/Greys) broke down on her paycheck goes a few years ago and a few people kept trying to discredit her or saying she should do xyz (which wasn't helpful or reasonable lol). And her being a non-U.S. actors effects cause she's got more costs as a reuslts

It blows my mind in the comment sections of some articles, people are like 'LoL GeT A SecOnD JOb'. THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE TO. YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO. WHY DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND THAT CONCEPT?!

It just makes me so fucking angry. Why can't people see that working 2+ jobs isn't something you should be bragging about, I mean yeah, if you want 2 jobs, go for it, but you shouldn't HAVE to have more than one job to fucking scrape by.

yup. and sometimes they do get second jobs and it's unsustainable. some of the cast of orange is the new black had to keep their service industry jobs while on the show and kept getting recognized by customers

Well, have they thought about getting a THIRD job?! Who needs a life and sleep and down time when you can be working yourself to the bone to make someone else richer? It makes you super tough and proves to everyone in the comment section that you're better than them!!!!

Yeah I remember watching some interviews from actors who were on The Sopranos. I remember Vincent Pastore who played Big Pussy saying he wishes he could've stayed on longer (his character got whacked) just cause the ones who were on longer got more money.

I didn’t recognize/remember her. I didn’t watch all that when she was on it, but damn all that had some great musical guests.

I know that’s still a lot of money for the average Joanne but just absolutely not proportional to what Netshits makes off the series. Barely qualifying for insurance is horrifying, like how are you ON TV and we have the same problems??

29K is just barely above the poverty line. Her income after paying agents and others is literally poverty wages.

Oooooof. Didn’t word it properly, I meant a lot of people will read 30k for 8 eps and assume it was just eight regular work days - or maybe 8 weeks - and not check if the math is mathing or consider her expenses.

It’s incredibly low, but is Netflix actually making money like that from these shows?
Streaming, the way I understand it, just seems a fundamentally flawed system, unfortunately. Most streamers, I believe, have yet to see any profit (Netflix might be the only one)
And that’s because the number of subscribers is obviously finite, there are no ads, and they insist on funnelling millions into a few awful movies a year (See The Grey Man)…I’m assuming that’s money they never get back.

i'm so fucking sick of working honestly. for most people, it means nothing cos people are not paid fairly for their labour in this evil system.

i saw a tiktok today where this girl was saying that anyone who works for a wage should actually be able to afford a house instead of barely being able to afford rent and it's so fucked up that owning a home is something only rich people can afford.

if I took a loan, the bank would earn twice the worth of the apartment

The whole system is rigged
