On topic: It doesn't surprise me one bit. The upper échelon in any creative field represent maybe the top 5%; there's a lot of people bubbling under the surface that this will help.

Off topic: I'm high and watching Boardwalk Empire rn and why is Richard Harrow's one eyed ass so hot and tragic? I would hit that, for real.

Do they (actors) get one giant check or is it biweekly like us regular folk ? Just curious

I get a check for each day I work/film. It's obnoxious 😂

Depends. That's another hardship they face - the terms of payment are unique to the project. Big paydays for one film, like $20 million, tend to get cut into weekly/biweekly installments to run for the course of filming, like $500,000 a check... but in general, the game is for the production/studio to hoard cash as long as possible, so they dole that shit out.

You don’t get your salary monthly? I’d be broke all the time

Not Hollywood, but I remember a Midsomer Murders actor saying he had to pay for his own taxis and trains from London to wherever they were filming that week (and overnight accommodations if shooting went over)

so many people just assume that every actor is rich

I knew working actors/a lot of TV actors weren't like rich-rich, but I had assumed they were at least making network/broadcast money, which is a decent living wage. The way streaming is paying is criminal.

At a convention eons ago, the actor Joe Pantoliano said he needed 4-5 roles a year to live halfway comfortably. But that was when the money was still semi good and TV show and ad residuals we’re paid

I knew a lot of them relied on going to conventions because they're paid to appear.
