No, the open letter was from big name actors to leadership saying that they would rather strike than cave on any of the AI stuff. Basically indicating it was non-negotiable from their pov.

Also helps leadership to be able to say "Look, not only did the actors vote to strike they will do it with enthusiasm to protect themselves from AI."

SAG members voted to *pre-authorize a strike* as in, if negotiations stalled out and a deal wasn’t made by the deadline the strike would kick in immediately without any other member action needed. the deadline hasn’t happened but they’re pressuring leadership/the negotiating committee not to accept a half assed deal

"Sarah Paulson (I know a lot of people were asking about her not being included in the first letter)" Thank you, OP! I was one of those people.

Nice to see Pedro Pascal's name as well.

The way deadline wrote this:

as well as, curiously SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher.

And I see she's running for re-election as SAG's president.😒

lmfao fran drescher signed this to save face because she’s SAG-AFTRA president and was getting ready to roll over to the studios to avoid a strike in the first place

her signing means nothing, it’s a letter addressed to her

I saw her on the Today show yesterday, and she's gotten the message. She's in line with membership now. She can't rollover, she knows she won't have the votes she needs.
