Cairo Conspiracy was a bit too straightlaced for me, but I enjoyed The Blue Caftan a lot, yesterday. Ode to love.

Can you spoil the ending of The Blue Caftan for me? I'm trying to talk some friends into seeing it with me, but they don't want to watch another sad queer movie.

h'mm saw polite society and really loved it, but, reading the synopsis for what's love got to do with it: i hope arranged marriage movies aren't the main stories we get about pakistani people and studios will greenlight other things.

I'm on the fence about Polite Society. I feel like it could be hilarious or cringe and I can't decide if I should see it.

What's love got to do with it had typical white saviour nonsense, and Emma Thompson's character was so racist but we're meant to find it "funny". It's a no from me dawg.

not surprising - esp with the documentary angle. and oh yikes! very weird that the part was written for her.

seeing GoTG. I'm hearing that it's the best since Endgame which is a huge statement to make.

I was rewatching the first one on Disney+ and couldn't believe how good the CGI was compared to the Marvel of today. We shall see what this one has.

Renfield is out of cinemas here already and I'm gutted. It was only out like a week.

You can rent it now...but it was fun to see in the theater with other people. I didn't expect it to be as funny as it was.

I have a monthly cinema pass so I always try and see things in cinema both because I prefer it and because it gets my money's worth, but that film came and went so quickly.

Have said this in past posts so sorry for the repetition but I wanna talk about these movies more!! Lol

Last weekend I saw:
-Mario-fun, nothing much more to say other than Jack Black and Anya Taylor-Joy needs to improve her voice acting skills because she was undoubtedly the weakest link
-The Social Network-fantastic, great drama. Obviously fictional at some parts but the acting was great and so was the score.
-The Departed-an excellent adaptation of an amazing movie, Infernal Affairs. Leo’s acting in particular was incredible. A lot of tension even though I knew the story. He changed the ending but I didn’t mind.
-the Florida Project-one of the best films I’ve seen in years. I keep thinking about it. I love the bright colours, the portrayal of childhood wonder in spite of the dire circumstances they live in, the portrayal of Halley. Willem Dafoe was so good too.

Willem Dafoe was so good in TFP. I'd never seen him play such an understated role before, and he knocked it out of the park. He definitely should have won the Oscar that year.

I agree!! I didn’t see the winner but it was such a lovely, as you say understated performance. He was fantastic.

The Florida Project is one of those films I can't put into words why I liked it so much, but just really like it.
