Mia Wasikowska Is “Pretty Content” With Her Decision to Leave Hollywood

Not only did Mia Wasikowska find the pace to not be a good fit, she wasn't necessarily fulfilled by the work.

“Maybe if the payoff is good and you feel really great doing it, then that’s okay, but I didn’t.” https://t.co/pdssoA21sq

Mia Hansen-Løve (I probably misspelled that).

You spelled it right!

I wished the whole movie had been about her. The film within a film section was the most interesting and I liked that her character was kind of an asshole.

Fully agree! I originally wished that Tim Roth had been recast but Hansen-Løve said he was a total misogynist that hated taking cues and notes and orders from a woman, so he fit the role, I guess. I love that she named names.

And yay for correct spelling! My phone has been so slow and switching windows kills it quickly, so I didn't want to risk checking.

It's wild how the casting for the Tim Roth character went from John Turturro to Owen Wilson to Tim Roth.

I really like her. I recently saw her in Restless and she was so cute in it but the movie is not very memorable.

I think she’s such a fun actress to watch. I just hated those Alice movies

I really liked her in Stoker and I was curious to see what Wentworth Miller would do in the future but I don't think he's done anything else.

Same, I was hoping he would write more scripts.
Google tells me he wrote The Disappointments Room (2016), which I had never heard of.

The Disappointments Room sucked, but I don't think it's because Miller wrote a bad script. It stank of producer meddling. I hope it flopping isn't why Miller hasn't had a script filmed since, because Stoker was one of my favorite films of the 2010s.

Stoker is my favourite film of hers. Amazing!
The new/young actress Hannah Dodd really looks like her I think. When I was watching flowers in the attic:origin, I could see Mia so strongly.

So I’ve always wondered how actors/actresses who aren’t acting anymore make money. Yes you have investments, but that’s not like a monthly yield. Like do they get another job… Mia clearly doesn't act for money?

I came into this post wondering exactly that

If she’s not having to keep paying a team then she’s probably doing ok living off of what she’s made if she’s been smart.

I always wonder how most actors who ARE acting make their money. Indie films don't pay a lot.
