if she had complications and didn't get a d&c she might have had sepis or something if her body didn't process the miscarriage. yes it's the same procedure but an elective abortion and treatment for a miscarriage are different imo
For those saying it's not being banned or not the same procedure. Then why did this woman be refused one in Texas because of the ban onD&C after her second miscarriage? They performed one before? So whats the different? Why are some states actively trying to ban the same exact procedure?
A D&C (Dilation and Curretage) is the most common method of early abortion. This method is simple and considered the safest and most convenient way to end an early pregnancy. A D&C procedure is routine, considered safe and will not affect your ability to get pregnant in the future.
Abortion - A D&C is one method that can be used when a person chooses to terminate (end) a pregnancy.
A D&C is Abortion. There is no difference. You are terminating a pregnancy regardless of the circumstances and in the medical field that is a Abortion.
There was no pregnancy. They did an ultrasound and the baby was not alive. Pregnancy means there is a heartbeat and electrical currents and the cells are reproducing and all things. She did not have a baby inside her any longer.
You can have a D&C for many other conditions than only being used for abortion. I had one to remove suspicious growths on examine. But now enough other people are telling you this, so hopeful some have said it in a way that makes sense.
Dilation and curettage (D&C) is a procedure to remove tissue from inside your uterus. Health care providers perform dilation and curettage to diagnose and treat certain uterine conditions - such as heavy bleeding - or to clear the uterine lining after a miscarriage or abortion.
In a dilation and curettage, your provider uses small instruments or a medication to open (dilate) the lower, narrow part of your uterus (cervix). Your provider then uses a surgical instrument called a curette, which can be a sharp instrument or suction device, to remove uterine tissue.
The distinction you're making is essentially meaningless. She was able to receive a medical procedure to help her body complete a spontaneous abortion.
She will use the exact same language to keep a woman suffering a similar miscarriage from accessing the same procedure.
The point is always for conservatives to manipulate language to allow them to access the care they criminalize poor and racialized pregnant people.
The hypocrisy is not lost on me. aren't the Duggar's dynasty known for breeding like rabbits? anti-birth control etc etc?
That being said, I am sorry for her predicament. I am upset at the frustrating thought that the freedom of choice she had might not change minds on making those safe choices affordable for all
Of course I feel bad for anyone going through a miscarriage because I’m not a heartless monster. BUT, a big part of me wants to say fuck you to her for sharing that she was able to get the d&c so easily. There are women not only experiencing this loss, but getting more ill by the hour because doctors are too damn scared to do the procedures thanks to people like her and her shitty family. Yes, I’m pissed.

She was no pregnant. The tissue was already dead. There was no pregnancy to terminate. All they did was remove dead tissue from her body.
