If you go to a McD or Burger King on a tourist city's most expensive boulevard (the one with the designer shops) then they're very nice. Was in Lugano (Switzerland) last September and no restaurants were open yet and we needed a very early lunch, so reluctantly went there... it had style and a nice view of the promenade, not gonna lie.

My funniest McD's experience was in the South of France a few years ago, going through the drive through and I ordered only "un double cheeseburger" with English pronunciation and they wouldn't understand. They told me to wait until they found an employee to be translator (I speak French!), she arrived and said "ah! un doooooble cheeseburger!". Haha.

yep same. i went to a big mcd's in the tourist area of warsaw and it was PACKED every time i walked past it. also was way cleaner and had a big bakery section with macarons and such on the side i was like ????

it was kinda sad though because it was the only place really packed compared to local restaurants, but people want what they want

lol i grew up in france and in middle school i had to go and buy a new english textbook for class and i asked the employee at the store for something like "english workbook 2" with a fairly RP accent and they could not understand me even after several tries... then i'm finally like "oui le ingeulishe wörque bouque" and they're like "AAAH SI LE INGEULISHE WöRQUE BOUQUE!". Still makes me laugh.

There are fancy McDonald's in the US just with normal food. There is one near the Biltmore Estate in Asheville NC that has a baby grand player piano and is fancy as fuck (or was last time i was there, it's in an area with ridiculous coding laws relating to appearance).

If I look at pictures I'm surprised with how much more 'modern' and colourful McD looks outside of the USA, but I guess it makes sense; that country doesn't go with the times in many ways.

For one thing McDonalds in Europe threw out the tacky red color many years ago. The subtle green already makes it look more „classy“
