For someone with so much dance training, Charli is really boring to watch. Same goes for Gabby. You'd think that having a competition dancer and a pro cheerleader would result in having really over the top impressive performances but they've both been pretty underwhelming. I appreciate that they can keep their legs straight and point their toes, but I expected to be wowed by them and I really haven't been. They're clearly not awful dancers but they're nowhere near what I thought they would be.
ITA - Charli and Gabby are both boring to watch while Wayne and Shangela are so fun because they have so much personality while they're dancing. You can see the joy and exuberance on their faces and in their body language. I was also really impressed with Shangela's frame this week. She was so elegant! Wayne also gets bonus points for learning that dance in half the usual amount of time. Thank goodness he got sick during a week when they only had one dance. If he's gotten sick last week when they had to learn three dances total, he might have fallen far enough behind to slip down to the bottom.
The one positive thing I will begrudgingly say about Michael Buble as a guest judge is that he knew to stay in his lane and not try to get technical in his comments. He wasn't very useful but he limited himself to being a cheerleader for the celebs, and his scores were pretty in line with the other judges with only a few exceptions.
Speaking of scores, I just can't with the judges. Carrie Ann gave an 8 to both Wayne and Jessie. The only person she gave a lower score to was Vinnie (and that was only a 7). You really want me to believe that Wayne was worse than everyone else this week? Because he was not. I'm glad that Shangela finally got all 9s because the judges have been low balling her all season. Heidi, on the other hand, keeps getting overscored.
Wayne’s scores really pissed me off. He only managed half the amount of rehearsal time everyone else did because he was sick. I see people online who were saying the judges need to score fairly which is why he got the 8s but I don’t see how a contestant being sick most of the week and getting such harsh criticisms is fair?
Ha, so what you’re saying is that this post needs more shit talking about Michael Buble?
I’m still perplexed as to why the show chose to have an entire episode devoted to him. Why not just do an episode of Sinatra music (since that’s what he’s known for covering)?
I skipped the judges’ critiques for Charli because I assumed it would be more hyperbolic praise before they gave her all 10s, so I missed hearing that comment!
