I hate how the judges underscore Shangela. Shangela has been killing it all season and has been PERFORMING each and every single time. Yes, you have to develop the technical skills on a show like this and Shangela HAS, but charisma and the ability to perform can't be taught. Shangela and Wayne are performers through and through and the thing I hate about ringers like Charli is they don't grow. There is no where to go when you start out already technically ahead of everyone else. That girl however cannot perform and is bland as hell. Yes, she's a beautiful dancer but she's just dancing and not performing and that's boring as a viewer for me.
I don’t mind ringers/celebs with previous dance experience because I watch the show for dancing. I don’t need to see growth of they start out at a high level. I loved watching Jennifer Grey because she was freaking amazing - her technique, her flexibility, her musicality, her ability to emote, and her performance ability were A+ all season.
My issue with Charli and Gabby is that their technique is fine but that’s it. Since they have extensive dance AND performance experience, I expect to see personality, star quality in their performances, and great movement quality. That’s where both of them have room to grow but they aren’t. They’re as boring to watch now as they were six weeks ago. They learn the choreography but that’s it. They don’t create characters or tell a story.
I think Michael Buble was good at staying in his lane when judging.
I fucking LOVED the dance Derek choreographed, wow Hayley is such an incredible dancer (and hella fearless, those lifts were just…wow.)
Question I’ve been thinking about: who else could be suitable for a themed night in the future? I was thinking it would be cool to have someone with a Latin inspired music catalog, and preferably someone who can actually dance to judge. Shakira?
i’m rly tired of one artist theme nights in general tbh. by the end of the night i get soooo resentful of hearing even one more song by whoever the artist may be (with the exception of britney night ofc…)
everything surrounding wayne this week is deeply sus. they didn’t show anything in the package about the aborted cancun trip that left witney high and dry. no wonder she looked so done this week.
tl;dr wayne had some kind of event in cancun planned, so witney and her family and at least one producer went to cancun. only... wayne never showed up. witney made a few crypric insta posts abt it (something about plans changing and everything being revealed on monday) when she flew back to LA, and the producer on the trip made a comment like 'what a trip that was' with a stressed out emoji. on top of everything, witney's toddler got sick on the trip back

I also thought the Wayne section was weird from beginning to end, including those bunk ass scores.
