I've been watching and I rewatched the recent seasons, and honestly I still have no idea what is going on with some of these characters. They really should just stop and try to explain things. It's clear the writers just want to constantly create a twist every 5 minutes but it's not enjoyable as a casual viewer to have to try to analyze every second. I don't think a cast member could even actually describe what is going on anymore.
i love this season (and was mostly bored by the last) but i need a new interview with ed harris like the ones he gave during s3 and complained about exactly what you’re saying lmao
This week’s episode cleared up a lot for me! I had some vague ideas about what was going on, but [Spoiler (click to open)]seeing Christina stop and direct people and become self aware was great, now we can move forward with her plot line.
Idk quite what is going on with host Man in Black - why the existential crisis now? But I can’t wait for someone to take Charlotte(still WyattDolores right?) out. I like Tessa Thompson, but not as this character.
Yup it's [Spoiler (click to open)]Wyatt Dolores PLUS the love she grew for Hale's kid and (ex?)husband and the loss and resentment she felt when they died by that rocket to her car. Her not fixing her burned arm and living with the scars for 20/30+ years is the corner stone to her personality now.
As for MIB, his human self told him, he reached the center of the maze. He interacted with someone who broke out (the outlier) and that's what the whole maze thing is I think. Reaching that self conscience in this mind prison. What "infects" these 38 hosts that hunt outliers is this knowledge of... being in a prison and breaking out. Of actual freedom. idk idk I'm ready to be proven wrong in the final episode of the season tho.
Thank you for clarifying this - a lot of my residual confusion has involved Hale's character, [Spoiler (click to open)]specifically how much of this destructive nature is Wyatt Dolores and how much is Hale. I remember near the beginning of season 3 when Dolores was coaching Halores and Halores said, "I can feel her fighting me" (hence the scratching) so I assumed everything we saw after her family was murdered was Hale completely taking over and exacting her revenge against humans for what they did to her family. Idk how exactly they'd go about it given this show does not like to be 100% obvious, but I wish they would clear that up a bit more because I know I'm not the only one who's confused.
To your point about the MiB, I think that's spot on. [Spoiler (click to open)]That's why Hale (or Halores) is trying to figure out what's happening with "Christina" since she's in charge of the humans' narratives and now that she's out of her loop, it's fucking with the hosts too. I'm really curious if they'll explain why Hale/Halores created Christina. I can see why she gave her a new loop

The show takes 2 years between seasons and expects us to remember every minute detail from past seasons so confusion is to be expected, especially when you have the same actors playing several different characters.
As for Christina, IDK what kind of information she expects to extract from her, but Hale is responsible for every single host that's alive right now, so she definitely planted Teddy for her.
I'm not big on the trend this season is giving now of having tedious slow burn episodes, but I appreciate that it's so much more straightforward and takes the time to make some sense and explanation of entire storylines. While nothing revolutionary thematically, it is still cool to see certain characters go through their development and awakening, for example Christina in this one. Tessa's acting in this takes me out a lot, but I've kind of also surrendered to seeing this season as a sort of video game like narrative and performance, if that makes sense...where like things are a little messy, but ambitious and engaging still.
this episode was so gooooood. i love this season, it’s so creepy and fun and so many scenes gave chilling and/or emotional vintage twilight zone vibes in a way that the many actual twilight zone reboots never manage

I had the same thoughts about Teddy. This seems to be on the same timeline as Bernard and the outliers story now, so unless Bernard did some quick maneuvering while in the sublime and some undetected stuff in a Delos lab off camera (he would've needed the tech to build a whole new body for him), I don't know how or when he would've brought Teddy back physically. But as you said, her roommate is able to see him, so it makes me wonder. Ahhhhhh I'm loving this season!
I don't know why everyone's hating on Tessa's performance tbh. I don't think I remember these complaints in S01 when she was still Hale. I think she choses to act this way because of who her character is at this point, a mish-mash of everything she experienced since she got this body, and the two distinct personalities that were used as foundation.
