I'm surprised this is going to happen; somehow it felt like they did the show to get it "off the list". A Winter Soldier-ish film in all the multi universal chaos right now might..work, though?

I think the show just served as a bit of a filler, to show Sam going from Falcon to Captain America, without them sacrificing a good third of their blockbuster movie showing that same path.

The movie will probably stay on the earth shit (Blade, Echo, etc) and not in the Space shit, where majority of Marvel is heading.

Speaking of Cloverfield when we getting the next one??!? I thought the Beyoncification of the release of Paradox was iconic.

I want to give the show a pass because they had to cut a whole storyline out of it that was tied to the Flagsmashers due to COVID but…. It was bad lmao. I hate the “this group just wants basic socialist values like medicine for all but they are EXTREMISTS and blow up buildings anyways #stancapitalism” trope. And then the show made a really compelling case for why the Captain America mantle should be abandoned and they didn’t convince me of Sam’s reason to pick it up anyways. Zemo ended up being the highlight of the show for me but he shouldn’t have been. It should have been Sam’s moment. Anyways.

Hopefully the movie is better but I’m not counting on it. I do think that Anthony Mackie is a really charming actor and Sam has the potential to be a great character.

Agree completely (although I never cared about Zemo). The villains were awful, but the biggest mistake was definitely that they made me fully believe that the mantle should be completely abandoned and Sam was right to turn it down. I also hated the way they handled Sharon. And I'm fine with the idea of Bucky and Sam not liking/trusting each other at the beginning, but they didn't do enough to develop their relationship or make me care about their friendship.

SebStan and Mackie have great chemistry and it was wasted on this show. Bucky took way too long in understanding Sam’s perspective and it was frustrating seeing him pressure a Black man into using what he saw as a symbol of his oppression.

Yeah, exactly--Bucky spent way too many episodes in a row saying the exact same thing, and they really just had that proper "buddy cop"/frenemy chemistry in maybe two of the episodes. It's weird because there was a plot but it's basically designed to work if you don't watch the show (he had the shield at the end of Endgame, and is properly Captain America again at the end of the show). But it also didn't deliver with the character development or good vibes, which you'd think would be perfect for these filler-type shows.
