Yeah, Jussie is serving more time for what is, when you get down to it, just a lie. A literal murderer and a rapist served less time. That’s sick and yet another poor reflection of our “justice” system.

If he had lied and said some BLM people attacked him and called him homophobic names he wouldn't be in jail. Hell he wouldn't have been prosecuted even. This only became a big deal because he blamed the trump cult. Now they get to run around denying that trump supporters attack people because of this one stupid attention stunt.

The people who believe shit like that will believe it even with proof that they do in fact kill people. You can try to reason with them and give them proof but they really don't care. The people you are talking about already don't care about black people or POC and will believe anything they're fed without using critical thinking or doing research either at all or outside of their bubble.

I remember when all this happened I wanted so badly to believe it… like, well past the point where it all fell apart because I just couldn’t fathom that someone would fabricate something like this. The harm it does to real victims, the ammunition it gave to people who will use it as an example that people lie (not that they wouldn’t say it’s always all made up anyway, but yeah), etc. I just didn’t want to believe he concocted a fake story and actually paid people to play it out with him because it was unconscionable to me. So I can see why Jurnee can’t believe he lied, especially since he’s her brother. Denial when it comes to family is a hell of a thing.

He'll be fine. He can stay in prison for a few weeks to think about what he did before he's let out early on good behavior.

The people agreeing and applauding his imprisonment would really benefit from some self-reflection.

And... you don't have to believe in his innocence to believe he should be free.

obscurity would have been a better, and probably harsher in his mind, punishment for him. the sentence is ridiculous.
