Ukrainians are proud and brave people who deserve our help in their time of need. This unjust attack on Ukraine and humanity at large is devastating and the Ukrainian people need our support. Good for them, all million/billionaires should do the same, but this doesn't negate my irrational hatred for Ashton

no lie, I will always remember that he beat CNN to 1M Twitter followers and forever cemented the course of modern social media trashiness.

I worked by the CNN headquarters in Atlanta during that nonsense and they had a ticker outside tracking both theirs and Ashton's follower count. I remember walking by regularly while getting lunch with coworkers and just thinking how obnoxious it all was.

I hate it when rich people ask plebs to donate, share the GFM link with your own social circle of millionaires instead?

they did, there are many celebrities that donated to the GFM as well

Ok, listen maybe I’m just salty bc of acute broke-itis, but I feel only fundraising in their circle of millionaires/billionaires would’ve funded this a whole lot faster. One call MacKenzie Scott and you’re done 😂 It could’ve been the good version of when celebs serenaded Covid with Imagine.

I get it. I also think the very rich should do 99% of the finding. But also, maybe being able to donate $20 makes someone who couldn’t otherwise feel like they’re helping? So I like the idea of both being on the table - rich people giving a shit-ton, median income people giving some, and people who can’t afford it not feeling guilty.

that conan interview is genuinely a really traumatic story she has to retell as a joke for the audience and the disconnect there is upsetting.

I had a similar experience. I knew we were moving (I was old enough to have to appear at the US Embassy when my parents were there for the interview), but I was not allowed to tell anyone and couldn't say goodbye to my friends or anything.

I now get why it was necessary, but in the moment I was definitely spiraling. But the alternative was staying in Russia, so...

This is a great initiative, and I'm glad it's already raised so much money.

Also, because I'm a nosy bitch I searched for their net worth and it's almost 300 million combined, and I'd not have guessed that much.

He's a pretty big tech investor, he's got that Uber/AirBnB money

I hate giving Ashton Kutcher any credit but he walked so Ryan Reynolds could run in terms of using celebrity to create a diverse and expansive portfolio of businesses. He's a legit venture capitalist and it's gross but so wasn't his acting/hosting career so good on him I guess. But least he does a decent amount of philanthropic work and hasn't made a Dude Where's My Car 2.

I thought you meant his philanthropic work was not making a sequel to Dude Where's My Car.
