I'm glad W. Kamau Bell is behind this, so I know it'll be thoughtfully done, he's great. It's the kind of documentary I know I'll find hard to watch but ultimately I do plan on watching it

I'm a white French Canadian so Cosby didn't mean fuckall to me growing up but it must be harrowing for the Black community to have one of their legends turn out to be like this. It's incredibly complex. I appreciate the perspective that Bell is going to offer in this doc. Just the trailer alone was pretty captivating.

I read a review that made a good point.

Sometimes these docs start only show the “good” legacy parts before going into his misdeeds.

But with Cosby it wasn’t a before … then thing. So much of his legacy building and defining moments were happening SIMULTANEOUSLY as his crimes. And the review I read said that the doc portrayed this so well.

that's what i got from the trailer alone. it wasn't a 'look how good his life was and then here's where he turned' kind of things, which is great to hear.

there's a point at the end of the first episode where a timeline is laid out to make sure the testimonies from his victims are right next to his big career moments. it does reinforce that this isn't something you can separate from his legacy, it's something completely intertwined with every moment of his career

ALLEGED? don't you mean CONVICTED?

i just finished watching the first episode and the footage pulled and the talking head interviews are really good, but it's so hard to watch. the end with all the testimonials from ten of his victims all in a row, showing how he had an m.o. he stuck to over and over again. he's a true monster
